You are what you eat! #nutrition #health

Strange - I never see people comparing a “fit” person’s body shape to a tomato or orange. I don’t see you putting a pair of six-pack abs next to an egg.

Could it be that this sort of objectification and shaming only applies to fat people? Could it be that this is just an excuse to make fun of the way that fat people look? (Imagine that!)

Wow its just a saying for kids to make them think about what they eat

Yet it features the photo of an adult. And it was posted by a blog that’s run by an adult without any kids. And it was posted on a website that isn’t accessible to anyone under the age of 13. How exactly is this directed at kids, again?

Kids should be able to eat ice cream without feeling ashamed of their body or worrying that they might be become fat. Kids should also understand that fat bodies can be made with eggs and melons and walnuts and healthy foods galore, while thin bodies can be fueled entirely by fudge. You cannot determine a person’s diet just by looking at their appearance. To teach people that fat bodies are always bad and that they are a punishment for eating “bad” foods - That’s both incorrect and extremely hateful.

You can teach everyone (children and adults) about healthy habits without insulting and demeaning certain body types. Fat people are not here to be your scare tactics.

Justifying this sort of behavior, and using the guise of “teaching kids that they are what they eat” by dehumanizing them and making them into a spectacle to laugh at is not “just teaching,” it’s bullying. Chances are you will also be dehumanizing any child who happens to be over weight because they will see that as an act of representation, and then that will stem a lot of body image issues and believing that they are that terrible stereotype that you portray.

Don’t disguise your hatred towards fat people as form of “teaching children proper nutrition” because weight bias is just as prevalent as racial discrimination, and that’s what you’re doing by dehumanizing them and making them as something to laugh at. You’re not “teaching” them anything. You’re just using that excuse to be an asshole.

IT IS NOT OKAY TO SHAME ANYONE FOR THEIR BODY, no matter the body type.
